Results: Implant placement is considered to represent a 3.9 % risk for the development of ONJ in patients undergoing BP therapy. The occurrence of ONJ has been associated with the dose and duration of BP administration, with a frequency ranging from 0.001% to 0.01 %. Conclusion: Although the frequency of ONJ associated with implant loss in patients using BPs is low, it remains a topic of interest because of its health implications for the individual, including implant loss and partial or total loss of the jaws. Therefore, it is essential to develop skills in anamnesis and in the identification of clinical data that may indicate risks of ONJ.Objetivo: Conocer y reportar la frecuencia de osteonecrosis de los maxilares (ONM) en publicaciones odontológicas de casos con implantes que reciben terapia con bifosfonatos (BF). Materiales y Métodos: Análisis y selección de publicaciones científicas que reportan relación entre ONM, implantes y terapia de BF. Resultados:  La colocación de implantes se considera un riesgo del 3,9% en el desarrollo ONM en pacientes con terapia de BF.  La presencia de la ONM se ha relacionado con la dosis y el tiempo de administración de los BF oscila entre 0,001 al 0,01 %.
