Resumo:At the beginning of the 20th century there was a circulation of ideas in Brazil to the institution of an Algebra to the elementary education, with the collaboration of Francisco Cabrita according to his appropriations of the American and French ideas . We tried to understand the author’s contributions to the process of systematization of this Algebra, analyzing elements that would determine his expertise in the educational field as well as the influence of this expertise to the circulation of author’s ideas. Based on references that discuss the expert and the expertise, as well as the circulation of ideas, under a historiographical bias, we seek to ascertain Cabrita's expertise and how it influenced the circulation of his ideas. The empirical material was formed by 5 articles by Cabrita published in the journal “A Escola Primaria”, between 1917 and 1922. The recognition of his expertise seems to allow the dissemination of his speech in favor of an Algebra for elementary education.
