Sumario:Introduction: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) professionals, especially the nursing team (nurses and nursing technicians) who work in intensive care units are exposed to an environment considered unhealthy, where physical and emotional exhaustion prevails because they are close to patients in suffering with risk of death. Objective: to analyze the emotional health of the nursing team in constant suffering of others identifying the stress of the professional in this situation. Methodology: This research consists of an exploratory and descriptive study, from 2006 to 2019, carried out through an integrative review of the literature, the data were collected through searches in virtual databases: Scielo, BVS. Hipóstese: this work demonstrates that nursing professionals working in the intensive care unit (ICU) are more prone to the physical, psychological and social burnout caused by the work environment.
