| Resumo: | Neonatology is understood as the science of diagnosis and treatment of newborn with problems. The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is considered a place of suffering, where the daily life of the professional is involved with a population that is between life and death. What are the feelings of the nursing team about the death of neonates hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit? Such question demands to know and reflect on the feelings of the nursing team regarding the death of the neonatal patient. The study is descriptive and exploratory in nature, using the qualitative approach for data treatment, using the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) as a database. It is assumed that these professionals feel unprepared to face death, it can be also assumed that a considerable part of the professionals feel sadness and difficulty to approach the bereaved family, and end up taking this burden out of the professional environment. |
