| Sumario: | In the late 1950 s and early 1960 s, the city of Três Lagoas was the backdrop for some peculiar and intriguing tales involving gunman Antonio Joaquim Aragão, commonly known as Camisa de Couro , literally Leather Shirt . The actions of this character gave rise not only to curiosity but also to a popular memory made up of myths and legends centered on the figure of men who were considered outlaws . More specifically, in this dissertation, we seek to understand how the image of an outlaw gunman has become a myth that remains alive in the memory of a group of people who live in the city of Três Lagoas, and to identify the context where this transformation occurred, how it manifests itself and the subjects involved in this dynamics |
