Descrição
Resumo:Brazil is one of the few countries in the world to have two complete translations of Marcel Proust's masterpiece, À la Recherche du temps perdu (1919-1927), both by renowned writers-translators, namely Mario Quintana, translator of the first four volumes, Manuel Bandeira, Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Lucia Miguel Pereira, by Globo's Livraria, between 1948 and 1957, as well as the retranslation, signed entirely by Fernando Py, published by Ediouro, in 2001. In addition to conferring prestige and credibility to the translation, the presence of the writer-translator raises a series of questions regarding the identification of the poetic voices present in this new translated text. In view of this, this work intends to analyze how writers-translators have dealt with fundamental aspects of the Proustian text, such as the rhythm, the punctuation and the cultural component, in Recherche's second volume, À l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs (1919). For that, the contributions of Henri Meschonnic will be used as theoretical basis, as far as the rhythmic question of the literary text is concerned, as well as the contributions of Isabelle Serça, particularly regarding proustian’s punctuation and rhythm. In addition, as for the cultural component of the Recherche, the reflection will start from the presupposition of transculturation to explain the various cultural transformations identified in the translations of Mario Quintana and Fernando Py, from the reflections proposed by Fernando Ortiz, which were later applied to literature by Ángel Rama.
