| Summary: | This essay is aimed to discuss the reception of Immanuel Kant’s work Towards Perpetual Peace, particularly among German scholars during the period of its release and immediately after, as well as to raise the question regarding the current importance of such work. It is compared, in a first step, with the chapters on International Law in the Metaphysics of Morals, and, in a second step, with the comments of authors such as Joseph Görres, Friedrich Gentz and Georg W. F. Hegel. The paper ends with some observations about the currentness of Kant’s work, particularly regarding the recognition of the human right to peace. |
