Sumario:The general aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pas-sion for physical activity on (physical) burnout in student athletes. The pre-sent study was of descriptive survey kind and based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this research was 350 physical edu-cation students from four state universities in Tehran. They were selected in a cluster-random way, and completed questionnaires on passion and burnout, of which 324 questionnaires were usable. The results indicated that obsessive passion with a regression coefficient of 0.23 and a T-statistics of 1.32 did not have a significant effect on the burnout of student athletes. However, the passion consistent with the regression coefficient (-0.66) and the T-statistics (-2.99) have a significant negative effect on the burnout of student athletes. Furthermore, the research model was adequately adjusted. Therefore, it is recommended that university administrators and executives implement and accelerate the planning and implementation of actions to inform students and control the negative consequences of these structures.
