Sumario:Ever since technical law in matters of historic heritage has identified a specific typology for protecting cities with relevant heritage values, known as Historic Areas, it has become necessary to endow them with their own protective regime which would allow them to adapt themselves to the characteristics of such a complex reality. There has been a consolidation in using urbanist technique as an instrument to model the urban and non-urban landscape and to define the parameters for intervening and transforming the natural anthropized environment. In fact, Law 16/1985, June 25th, on Spanish Historic Heritage, was written using this technique as the basis for the protection of Historic Areas, Archaeological Sites and Historic Sites. Legislators have articulated the first area more fully than the others. The article analyzes the implications of this legislation
