Description
Summary:The article presents part of the results from nearly concluded research that aims to map the utterances around nature in the newspaper Zero Hora/RS. This exercise is done to think of ways to start problematizations regarding environmental education in our teaching practices. It is essential to note the discursive disputes around the collapse of Dam I of Mina Córrego do Feijão(Brumadinho/MG) taken place on January 25th, 2019. Six editions of the publication were chosen as empirical material. The theoretical and methodological referential is supported by the Cultural Analysis anchored in the Cultural Studies. The conclusion of the investigation highlights the environmental problems of a country that does not learn from experiences of other past tragedies and the human tragedy resulted from this environmental catastrophe. Said utterings are analyzed combining the concept of Environmental Catastrophes proposed by Meira-Cartea (2005) and Risk Society by Beck (2011) to reflect about the role of Wasted Human in Modernity according to Bauman (2005).
