| Sumario: | In Brasil, life in cities, inhabiting, and the different forms of relating and producing space among citizens have been changing in the last decades. Based on this, the city in contemporary times presents itself as an important analytical element due to its inherent historical, economic, political, cultural, and spatial dynamics. As an effect of spacial processes, new landscapes, shapes, structures, and contents emerge in the urban fabric, transforming and impacting social life on a vast scale. With that being said, this article analyses the process of spatial fragmentation in the city of Montes Claros/MG, from the perspective of urban mobility. For this purpose, data has been gathered and, subsequently, an analysis of the recent mobility works carried out by the State was done in the city, after the year 2018, with iconographic records. However, this action from the State must be understood broadly and critically, because, from aspects of urban mobility, general characteristics of spatial fragmentation in this medium city were evidenced. This process is materialized, among other conditions, by the segmentation of the urban fabric, especially due to the different social uses of space. The adopted methodology was quali-quantitative, with a theoretical analysis, documental research, and field research. |
