Sumario:The relationship between Dentistry and Law is known by few and considered unimportant both by students and by professionals. The aim of this article was to broach the subject of the unlawful practice of Dentistry and to reflect about this issue regarding the internship periods of dental students. The matter of dental internships is regulated by Decree n. 87,497,4 which regulated Law n. 6,494,7 of December 7, 1977. The matter is also regulated by Decision n. 25/8412 issued by the Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO). It is important to point out that the educational institutions are entirely responsible for their curricular internship period, a pedagogical and didactic procedure. Interactions are allowed in the form of agreements between the institutions and the different sectors of society. We stress, however, the importance of inspecting the dental practice in these programs in order to protect the honor of the profession.
