Sumario:The present Master´s degree dissertation has as its main objective, to research on transformational leadership by means of 2 studies: evidence of the validity of the transformational leadership scale developed by Bass and Avolio (2004) in the Brazilian context and a study associating leadership styles, organizational citizenship behavior and work satisfaction. The tools used were: Marlowe-Crowne´s scale of social desirability; Scale of organizational citizenship; scale of work satisfaction, Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ 5x form), in the form of leaders and subordinates to collect convenience among professionals of a number of organizations in municipalities of the state of Minas Gerais. The investigation of the internal structure as evidence of validity of the instrument was conducted by means of exploratory factual analysis and the internal consistency was measured by means of Cronbach´s alfa. The results lead to the conclusion that in both modalities of the brief version MLQ 5X form, the internal structure proposed by the authors of the questionnaire did not maintain themselves and the coefficients were high in the leader´s questionnaires as well as the subordinates´. In the second study, by means of the correlation of Pearson and multiple linear regressions. It was noted that work satisfaction increases organizational citizenship significantly and positively.
