| Summary: | Desulfurization is a fundamental process in the refining stage of fossil fuels, and new technologies are being developed to carry out this process under milder and lower-cost conditions. This work conducted a technological forecasting on the use of rice husk derivatives as adsorbents for sulfur compounds in diesel, performing a scientific mapping in the Web of Science and Scopus databases and a patent mapping using the Questel Orbit Intelligence® tool. Scientific production on the topic has increased since 2013, with significant contributions from China, Brazil, and India. However, only six articles have explored fuel desulfurization, indicating the early stage of this application. In the patent landscape, China stands out, asserting intellectual property rights over various technologies to produce rice husk-derived adsorbents for various purposes, including adsorption desulfurization, highlighting potential commercial interest in this technology. |
