Sumario:This study investigates the role of Information Science in promoting Digital Sustainability, considering factors such as technological obsolescence and the environmental impacts generated by human action in the digital context. In this context, the general objective of this research is to analyze the use of the term digital sustainability as a new line of research in the field of Information Science in Brazil. The specific objective is to list the points of connection between Sustainability and Information Science. The methodology used in this article is of a basic, bibliographical and exploratory nature, supported by a qualitative approach. Regarding the procedure used, it is characterized as a literature review, carried out by exploring the works published on the Brazilian Portal of Scientific Publications and Data in Open Access, from 2019 to 2023. The results show an increasing frequency of papers over the years, with 4 papers in 2019, 1 in 2020, 7 in 2021, 11 in 2022 and 27 in 2023, highlighting the relevance and urgency of this research in the current context. Finally, the interdisciplinary nature of the research shows not only the connection between the areas of sustainability, digital technologies and Information Science, but also how this intersection can promote innovations and practices that benefit both the environment and society.
