| Sumario: | Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) was one of the great names of German science in the second half of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century. Part of his scientific works was devoted to defend and promote the Darwinian ideas of modification of species. This article aims to present an analysis of textbooks of biology approved by the National Textbook Program (PNLD) 2012 on how biography and the scientific production of Ernst Haeckel are addressed. We aimed to understand which aspects of the scientific production of the German naturalist were addressed in these eight collections of textbooks, and if it was done in a historically appropriate manner. The analysis was made by using two methodological instruments, the content analysis elaborated by Bardin and the analysis protocol proposed by Fabrício Barbosa Bittencourt. This analysis revealed that the life and work of Ernst Haeckel are cited in all collections approved by PNLD 2012, however superficially and with minor inaccuracies in most cases. |
