| Resumo: | It is common for audiovisual series to contain cultural traits in their discourse, which are reflected in the use of language through orality signs that are restricted to a particular linguistic community, leading to difficulties in semantic access for people from other cultures. In this sense, the aim of this paper is to analyze the linguistic choices made by subtitlers when translating the Colombian "hágale" used in the Colombian series Narcos into Brazilian Portuguese. For this purpose, we will rely on the Dictionary of Colombia (2018), on Mayoral's (1998) perspective of variation translation, and on Díaz Cintas's (2003) audiovisual translation. As contributions, we bring reflections that confront the theory of audiovisual translation and the practice of subtitling, analyzing and proposing solutions to the most symptomatic cases of translation problems, thus contributing to improve the practice of subtitling Colombian Spanish into Brazilian Portuguese and the final result of audiovisual products. |
