| Resumo: | This text features fragments of the historical experience of some quilombolas (ethnic minorities) of the state of Tocantins, where about 49 communities are. It focuses on matters related to the forming, organization, resistance, and communities’ notion of belonging, as well as to the values, cultural background, sociability, material life symbolical features, historical changes, and other aspects of black population life in such region. This text approaches specifically the social dynamics of three quilombola communities based on researches from social sciences, history, and ethnobotanics as well as on accounts given remaining people. |
