In places where the precipitation are intense, as the area of Cubatão city, São Paulo State, Brazil, the scene isn’t different: there’s lots of the good, atracting industrial activity, but this economic activity shows itself unable to deal with this good in sustainable way. This work shows some aspects of this hard conjugation.Na gestão e aproveitamento da água, os aspectos culturais e econômicos são cruciais: determinam a postura dos atores sociais diante do precioso bem. Em áreas de precipitação intensa, como a região do município de Cubatão, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil, o cenário não é diferente: o bem é abundante, atraindo a atividade econômica, embora essa atividade econômica nem sempre consiga lidar de forma sustentável com esse mesmo bem.
