| Sumario: | This dissertation discusses the possible reverberations of marital violence suffered by women while exercising the maternity. Violence against women is a public health problem with high incidence and negative psychosocial effects of the utmost relevance. The winnicottian psychoanalitic theory posits that the early emotional development of babies requires a good enough environment that provides the basic conditions for their personal maturation. Therefore, considering the psyche of children are extremely dependent on the quality of their relationship with their mothers, it is relevant to investigate the possible effects of violence against women in how they exercise their maternal function. This research took place in an institution in the city of Teresina - PI that assists socially vulnerable women victims of marital violence, as well as their children from one (01) to two (02) years and nine (09) months of age. The participants were four (04) women/mothers assisted by the institution with a history of experiencing marital violence. The data were collected through individual psychoanalytic listening. Hence, it is a qualitative field research based on the investigative psychoanalytic method. Important negative effects were observed in regards to the psychological availability for the maternal function in the four cases leading to the conclusion that the offer of a good enough holding, and the consequent establishment of trust in the mother-baby relationship, is precisely what is hampered by the violence experienced. |
