Descrição
Resumo:This article presents Cinematic Cartographies as a methodological proposal for studying cultural landscapes through their cinematic representations. These are cartographies in which films are being taken as moving maps, documenting cultures, urban memories and social and ideological changes. The interdisciplinary proposal draws on theories from philosophy, cinema, cultural geographies and architecture to construct adaptable keys for reading the functions of cinematic landscapes, such as the principles and strategies of dimensioning and the psychogeographies of the characters. The keys were applied to 4 films produced between 1955 and 1970, which subject is the touristy and iconic Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, a frequent object of symbolic representations of Brazil. Understanding cultural landscapes through artistic expressions such as cinema, allows us to unravel sensitive aspects of collective memories, providing resources to subsidize social and cultural research, or to mitigate the effects of various types of interventions in urban environments.
