| Resumo: | This essay examines the debate between Axel Honneth and Judith Butler which is increasingly gaining relevance for the contemporary political philosophy. Both philosophers investigate the connection between recognition and social struggles. Their divergent interpretations of Hegel are in the core of their disagreements: Honneth emphasizes de role of love and intersubjectivity and defends the affirmation of identities in social struggles; in the other hand, Butler´s point of departure is the French interpretation of Hegel, therefore she insists on a desire of recognition and on the importance of struggles that are no longer based on identities. |
