| Resumo: | Urban population growth combined with lack of planning in cities results in jammed roads, and consequent reduced mobility. This deeply undermines e-commerce companies, since delivery service performance is important for customer satisfaction. This paper seeks to better understand under which circumstances urban mobility impacts freight in e-commerce companies. To this end, purchases of different products were simulated on the websites of e-commerce companies that delivery in areas with different mobility levels. Delivery prices were statistically analyzed and delivery service interviews were conducted in order to understand the delivery pricing process. Results showed no significative statistical variances in freight prices for deliveries in areas with low or high mobility. Even though operations are more expensive in areas where mobility is low - due to factors such as traffic restrictions for cargo vehicle, traffic jams, difficulties while loading and unloading, and access - they benefit from some factors, such as the high quantity of deliveries. |
