Descripción
Sumario:In Brazil, it is estimated that there are more than 2,900 remaining Quilombo communities distributed across all regions. The social invisibility regarding rural communities contributes to a more severe percentage of social vulnerability. This is closely associated with the situation of food insecurity among families, exacerbated by issues related to gender, race, ethnicity, and generation, concentrating the highest rates of people in this condition in regions with indigenous peoples and remaining Quilombo communities. The purpose of this manuscript is to discuss the definitions of Traditional Peoples and Communities and Remaining Quilombo Communities, within their historical context and their redefinition in the Federal Constitution, as well as public policies aimed at remaining Quilombo communities under the Brazil Without Poverty Plan. The construction of this work was carried out through a narrative literature review. Understanding the historical and social context of these communities allows us to comprehend the need for proposals for public policies to improve the quality of life for these populations that have historically been marginalized from society. Therefore, it is important to highlight public policies aimed at the development of remaining Quilombo communities, assisting in overcoming poverty, promoting social and productive inclusion, and enhancing food and nutritional security.
