Sumario:This text resultsfrom a scientific initiation research carried out inland the Settlement Ireno Alves dos Santos,inRio Bonito do Iguaçumunicipality, State of Paraná. The aim was surveyingpublic policies accessed by the settlers, and their impacts on the family economy. The research was supported by a settlement living experience because this work student author lives there, what allowed surveying reliable information on what are the public policies that the subjects have access, as well as evaluating changes which happened in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, Paraná, after the SettlementIreno Alves dos Santoscreation, inOctober 30th1997. Methodology integrated two steps, and theoretical revision was performed in the first one to make the main work concepts clear; inother words, understanding what public policies, family farming, and agrarian reform settlers are. Knowing a debate part on these thematic was possible, further the subjects involved and especially understand, through dialogue with settlers, which public policies they have access and these workers reality. The research made evident that most settlers interviewed did not access public policies.
