| Resumo: | Recognizing that the environmental issue is undoubtedly one of the key signs of our time and that geography in its disciplinary tradition keeps a rich collection in the subject matter, this article originates in the interest to know and place some proposals that have emerged in recent years in Latin America under the label of Environmental Geography. Based on analyzing the epistemological and theoretical perspectives and the geographical problematization proposed by two research programs, the Centro de Investigación de Geografía Ambiental of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the Rede de Pesquisadores em Geografia (Socio)Ambiental, native of the Brazilian area, it is interesting to investigate what is enunciated and understood by Environmental Geography. This exploration is crossed by other broader questions: is an Environmental Geography necessary?, Is geography no longer in itself environmental?, How can an Environmental Geography that has not been contributed by other nearby fields, such as Political Ecology, contribute?, What Environmental Geography do we need and can we build? In relation to this set of questions, and from that review, a route is proposed that leads to a (possible) roadmap for the formation of a field of knowledge located, which contributes to the problematization of the environmental and geographical. |
