| Summary: | Introduction: the tuberculosis is one of the oldest infectious diseases in the world, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, is transmitted through air – aerosols. According to the World Health Organization, about 100 million people are infected each year, and about 8-10 million will develop the disease. Aims: the following article aims to describe the epidemiological profile of tuberculosis in the city of Porto Alegre/RS, in deprived of liberty population (DLP) in the period 2015-2017. Methods: this is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, based on data available in the Notification and Injury System, on reported cases of incidence in the city, observing the general population and the prisioners. Results: as a result, in 2017 the general population dropped by 1.378 new cases and DLP grew to 167 events. The cure rate among cases of the general population was 53,87% while in the DPL it was 77,3%. Death occurred in 75,4% of prison patients and in 16,6% of the general population, abandonment cases represent 26,1 among the inmates and 19,24% of the general population. Conclusions: according to the results presented, it is evident that tuberculosis prevails in the prisioners and the structural conditions of prisons, demonstrating some difficulties in guaranteeing the right to access to health. |
