Descrição
Resumo:Resumo: This essay proposes a reflection on the epistemological bases that have been providing the foundation for the musical educational practices in Brazil through history. By reviewing some of the well established paradigms in place, a void has been evidenced on the instances of considering culture as an inalienable epistemological factor to be taken into the base of the related teaching processes. Upon a brief review of the available literature in Brazil that discuss this issue, it was our intention to be able to make our own contribution by bringing into a broader consideration the perspective of the dialectical historical materialism, especially based on the philosophy of the culture of the Bakhtin Circle. A view through this perspective enabled the deconstruction of certain dichotomies, which have been the object of known disputes regarding the approach to art itself, and the views on the teaching of art(dichotomies as: social/individual; plural/singular; technique/expression; sensitive/intelligible, among others), and be able to rethink the place of culture in the realm of music education. The ultimate goal of the text is not necessarily to raise totally new questions, but to add more substance and matter to other discussions that have already been proposed by other researchers in the field, but substantiated by different theoretical fundamentals
