Sumario:This article aims to analyze the phenomenon of recategorization by proper name in the referential processes in order to observe how it can collaborate for the argumentative conduction of the text in the presentation and in the recategorization of the referents. The referent is defined as an entity built in the minds of the interlocutors mediated by the negotiation of the meanings. In this way, the recategorization of a given referent is understood as a phenomenon that focuses on a process of comings and goings in a constant attempt to stabilize the reference in function of satisfying the project of saying. For this, the process of presentation and anaphoric resumption, when performed by proper names, influences the construction of the meaning. In order to demonstrate our reflections in this respect, we present the analysis of two journalistic chronicles describing how the presentation mode and the successive anaphoric retakes of the referents by their proper name can help in the argumentative orientation of the text. In this analysis, we prove the relevance of the proper name in certain contexts due to its use in the presentation and in the recategorized resumption of the referents.
