description To identify the economic and social contributions of DAIAG – Agroindustrial District of Aparecida de Goiânia – to the economic growth of the city of Aparecida de Goiânia, research with a qualitative approach, of an exploratory nature, was carried out through a case study, interviews assisted by semi-structured scripts, indirect observation, and document analysis. The results found in the study demonstrate that the economic and social growth of the city of Aparecida de Goiânia was supported by the installation of DAIAG in 1989, since companies in the district promoted an increase in the volume of employment and income for the local population, growth in tax collection, and the resocialization of former inmates of the city's prison system through a program to employ this workforce in DAIAG companies. In the business environment, identified the existence of business cooperation actions was the purpose of creating a cluster in the civil construction segment in the locality, and the existence of programs for the qualification of workers. Since the creation of DAIAG, improvements have been recorded in socioeconomic indicators, such as the growth in average per capita income in the locality, and the increase in the Municipal Human Development Index (HDI-M) of Aparecida de Goiânia.

Os resultados encontrados no estudo demonstram que o crescimento econômico e social da cidade de Aparecida de Goiânia foi apoiado pela instalação do DAIAG em 1989, uma vez que as empresas do distrito promoveram o aumento do volume de emprego e de renda para a população local, o crescimento da arrecadação de tributos, e a ressocialização dos ex-detentos do sistema prisional da cidade por meio de um programa de empregabilidade desta mão de obra nas empresas do DAIAG. No ambiente dos negócios, verificou-se a existência de ações de cooperação empresarial com a finalidade da criação de um cluster no segmento da construção civil na localidade, e a existência de programas para a qualificação dos trabalhadores.
