Summary:The article aims to analyze the articulations of Companhia Docas de Santos (CDS) in the 1964 coup d'état, through the Instituto de Pesquisas e Estudos Sociais  (IPES), and the financial benefits that the company obtained in the dictatorship, in the government Castello Branco (1964-1967). IPES was a business entity that developed actions and strategies in order to create the bases of opposition to destabilize, empty and depose João Goulart (1961-1964), who was creating measures that directly affected the economic interests of capital, especially the international one.
