Sumario:The objective of this research was to analyze the statistical data on domestic violence against women in the state of Pará from 2008 to 2015. The study was developed with a quantitative approach, having as a descriptive analytical object the phenomenon of violence against women or domestic violence. The data were collected from the Database of the Integrated System of Public Security SISP/WEB. The analysis of the statistical data reveals the magnitude of the problem, social urgency and national scope of the theme with axes focused on human rights and women's citizenship. Through these, it was possible to identify the number of occurrences, main types and predominant characteristics of women victims of domestic and family violence related to age, schooling, color and profession. According to the quantitative data shown by this study, of the 905,694 cases recorded for crimes against women in the state of Pará in the years surveyed (2008 to 2015), 31,793 (that is 3.5% of the total) were classified by the police authority as violence according to the Maria da Penha Law.   Keywords: Domestic violence, Maria da Penha Law, Human Rights.
