Resumo:Childhood plays a crucial role in skill formation, especially in the first two years of life. In Brazil, it was only in 2016 that a nationwide program was created to strengthen family ties and support children and pregnant women. The Happy Child Program (PCF) aims to promote the integral development of children in early childhood. It is worth mentioning that, previously, the state of Rio Grande do Sul had already been implementing a similar program, the Programa Primeira Infância Melhor (PIM), which now, with the expansion of the PCF, collaborates with the offer of joint actions to families. The objective of this study is to evaluate the perception of caregivers of children who participate in the PCF and PIM regarding the program's activities in their municipalities. Methodologically, the study adopts a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive approach carried out in three municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, through a semi-structured interview with families benefiting from the programs. Data analysis was conducted manually, through bibliographical research and content analysis, which involves exposing the opinions, challenges and evaluations presented by the beneficiaries of the Criança Feliz and Primeira Infância Melhor programs. The main results indicate that visitors play a significant role in children's development, the amount of care offered by PCF and PIM is adequate, the family access policy to programs is efficient, and when necessary, visitors play a fundamental role in obtaining social assistance. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide a broader understanding of the perception of families who use these programs. The study can also serve as a program evaluation tool, allowing society to be aware of the results achieved in the region studied and helping to plan future actions.
