| Resumo: | Joints for wood structures extend wood applicability with strength, durability and safety. In order to develop a joint solution for Eucalyptus small diameter round wood were experimentally evaluated an adhesive joint model with threaded steel rod. For the wood characterization, its physical, strength and stiffness properties were determined - moisture content (U), density (ρ), modulus of elasticity in bending (Em0), modulus of elasticity in compression parallel to grain (EC0) , compressive strength parallel to grain (fc0) and shear strength parallel to grain (fv0) - trough a hybrid test methodology oriented by NBR7190: 1997 - Design of Wood Structures and European Standard EN14251: 2003 - Structural Round Timber - Test Methods. The joint geometrical parameters - wood piece diameter (D), metal bar diameter (d), steel rod anchoring depth (p) - presented statistical significance performance and the parallel to grain shear strength (fv0) kept linear relationship with pullout mechanical strength. By using electric heat emitter device, effects of a localized wood drying on adhesion surface were investigated. Results were equivalent to pullout strength of wood in equilibrium moisture content, proving the methodology efficacy. The evaluated joint applies, among other structural typologies, to spatial trusses (or three-dimensional). |
