Resumo:The article raises the question about validity and reliability of criteria and forms of evaluation commonly used in musical performance. It reflects on the use of the screen in tests, auditions and competitions of instrumentalists and singers. Biases reflect historical processes and behaviours learned culturally; they carry prejudices and collaborate to maintain standards determined by socialization. Although the importance of seeking validation of visual and sound criteria for musical evaluation is recognized, the text considers that the area has not yet been able to produce reliable instruments of evaluation and advocates the use of the screen in all stages of the tests.
