| Sumario: | Modernization and technology impacted the production and work organization of family and non-family farmers in Brazilian areas, with a focus on Matopiba, a region made up of 337 municipalities in the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia, with the execution of intersectoral activities, agricultural and/or non-agricultural, resulting in pluriactivity which, in turn, generates pluri-income. Using data from the 2017 Agricultural Census, descriptive-statistical analyzes were carried out to verify revenues, incomes and the number of agricultural establishments, according to the categories of family and non-family farmers. Regarding the number of agricultural establishments, the production income of the establishment and the producer's other income are the main sources of income, with emphasis on income from retirement and pensions for family members. Considering the value of revenues or income, vegetable production was more relevant for non-family farmers, while animal production had a greater share in the income of family farmers. Pluriactivity, that is, engagement in agricultural and non-agricultural activities, is evident in the composition of the farmer's income, generating pluri-income. |
