Sumario:The research has as its object of study two squares located in the urban space of the city of Rondonópolis-MT. Of the main characteristics of the research, a square that is a project of the Rondonópolis City Hall, located in an important neighborhood, which is Vila Operária. The other square is an investment by a real estate company, that is, it belongs to private capital, where it has an excellent structure and daily maintenance. Among the aspects, it was sought with the research, to make a comparison of the two squares, with respect to the function performed as well as possible dysfunctions of its use, for that, it was raised information of the existing infrastructure in these spaces as well as their problems, either them in the infrastructure aspect, security, informal trade. In this way, through fieldwork, using the informal interview procedure, it was possible to understand which factors attract or repel users of these spaces. Also through the photographic record, we identified the use of public space by the private sector.
