Overview of scientific production in Astronomy in Brazil: bibliometric analysis

| Resumo: | Objective: To investigate the scenario of scientific production in Astronomy in Brazil in the Portal de Periódicos da CAPES, between the period of 2010 to 2020. Methodology: The research is of a descriptive and exploratory nature, with a quali-quantitative approach, and used the analysis bibliometric. Data collection took place between January and February 2021, through the expressions Astronomia AND Brasil, and sought to identify the characterization of journals, articles and authors, through the platforms Periódicos Capes, SCImago Journal & Country Rank, DOAJ, Plataforma Sucupira, e-MEC, Orcid and Lattes Curriculum. Results: It was found that 89% of scientific journals have Qualis between A1 and Qualis B5, belonging to the areas of astronomy, physics and astrophysics, with the highest production peak observed in the year 2020. Articles in English correspond to 98% and portray subjects such as galaxies, stars and planets, and 35% of the articles had between 2 and 3 authors. A total of 197 authors who published the most on the subject were identified, with the most collaborative author having 66 articles. In addition, 21% of the analyzed authors are linked to the University of São Paulo, and all have a doctoral degree, with 77 titles in the areas of Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics. Conclusions: Therefore, it is concluded that it is possible to verify a growing trend in relation to international publications and collaborations in scientific productions on Astronomy in the country. |
