| Resumo: | This essay tries to capture traits of Jair Bolsonaro’s public image based on the interaction between the speeches given in the acts of September 7, 2021 and the audiences’ standings. For this purpose, it discusses the concept of public image and the constitutive elements of fascist language. The corpus consists of 40 texts published by Folha de S.Paulo, analyzed from two axes: 1) Bolsonaro’s speech; 2) the public’s standings. The analysis reinforces the aggressive oratory, incitement to hatred and violence present in his speech, while preaching religiosity, freedom, and truth. Other audiences, in turn, point to him as a fascist, liar, and a scammer, who opposes the values of democracy, freedom, and life itself. |
