Sumario:This paper aims at discussing the potential that celebrities have to arouse public commotion and indignation around events. In order to do so, we rescued the pragmatist perspective of the event, its hermeneutic power and its power to affect people’s lives. Then, we approach the role that celebrities can play when seeking to sensitize people to certain issues revealed by an event, evidencing the politicization that has marked the positioning of public figures in contemporary Brazil. Based on this, the text provides a brief analysis of the repercussion of the “Where's the Yanomami” movement on Twitter. The analysis was carried out from the power of affectation and the hermeneutic power of this event and demonstrates how celebrities position themselves in relation to it, summoning public commotion and indignation in the face of the violation of human dignity and the treatment of indigenous peoples in Brazil.
