Differences and similarities between the production of both writers are highlighted, especially considering the relationship between journalism and literature. From the repeated admiration of João Antônio by Lima Barreto, the proximity between the two productions published in different historical periods and contexts is verified, but they have elements that allow to reflect on the current Brazilian journalism.Propõe-se uma análise do romance Recordações do escrivão Isaías Caminha, de Lima Barreto, originalmente publicado em 1909, e do texto “Abraçado ao meu rancor” (1986), de João Antônio. Salientam-se diferenças e semelhanças entre a produção de ambos os escritores atentando se, principalmente, para a relação entre jornalismo e literatura.
