| Sumario: | This article investigates the dynamics of territorial resistance in the Cafundá Astrogilda Quilombo, located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the community’s struggle against the pressures of urban expansion, real estate speculation, and environmental policies that affect their cultural and agricultural practices. Based on the theories of Rogério Haesbaert and Marcelo Lopes de Souza, who conceive of territory as a social construction shaped by power relations, the study explores the practices of cultural and territorial affirmation developed by the quilombola community, understanding them as insurgent forms of resistance and identity reaffirmation. The analysis also incorporates Abdias Nascimento’s Quilombismo and Aníbal Quijano’s critiques of the coloniality of power, highlighting the centrality of quilombola identity and the valorization of ancestral knowledge as forms of confrontation. The methodology combines technical visits, participant observation, and social mapping to understand community practices and the reconfiguration of lived space. The Cafundá Astrogilda Quilombo emerges as a symbol of struggle and cultural preservation, reaffirming collective identities and strengthening the autonomy of its residents in the face of adversities imposed by the urban and socioeconomic context. |
