Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims at discussing the constitution of public image of Sérgio Moro, former federal judge and former minister of Justice, in the context of his performance in the Operation Car Wash and his rise to federal government. Supported by the discussion about public image celebrization and celebrity politics, we analyze the construction of Moro’s image from texts that were published in the Events’ Analysis Lab (GrisLab) and from magazines Veja and Carta Capital. We seek to grasp some features attached to this public figure image, such as values and symbolic clashes associated to it. The study reveals that, on the one hand, Moro’s image is linked to values such as competence, seriousness, zeal, dedication, probity and honesty. On the other hand, it is related to a partial and selective performance in the application of justice, as well as the disregard for legality in politically motivated actions.
