Using the role assumed by the media during this period, this article analyzes how the realization of the right to information, through the exercise of freedom of the press, can help citizens in times of crisis. What is done from the methodology of a bibliographic research, raising the main references considered relevant. The realization of this paper proves to be necessary due to its relevance and timeliness, contributing positively to the production of studies that investigate issues related to the coronavirus pandemic. In the end, it remains to be seen that, with responsability and united in favor of information, the media play and important role for society in fighting against the virus, demonstrating the need for truthful information, especially in times of global crisis. Diante da pandemia do novo coronavírus (COVID-19) o mundo se vê inserido em uma nova realidade, na qual diversos profissionais são chamados a assumir a linha de frente no combate a sua propagação. Utilizando do papel assumido pelos meios de comunicação durante esse período, o artigo analisa como a concretização do direito à informação, através do exercício da liberdade de imprensa, pode auxiliar os cidadãos em momentos de crise. O que é feito a partir da metodologia da pesquisa bibliográfica, levantando as principais referências consideradas pertinentes ao tema. Sua realização revela-se oportuna pela relevância e atualidade, contribuindo de maneira positiva com a produção de trabalhos que investiguem questões relacionadas a pandemia.
