Resumo:Faced with the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the world finds itself inserted in a new reality, in which several professionals are called to take the front line in combating its spread. Using the role assumed by the media during this period, this article analyzes how the realization of the right to information, through the exercise of freedom of the press, can help citizens in times of crisis. What is done from the methodology of a bibliographic research, raising the main references considered relevant. The realization of this paper proves to be necessary due to its relevance and timeliness, contributing positively to the production of studies that investigate issues related to the coronavirus pandemic. In the end, it remains to be seen that, with responsability and united in favor of information, the media play and important role for society in fighting against the virus, demonstrating the need for truthful information, especially in times of global crisis.
