| Sumario: | In Mexico, the smaller pelagic fish fisheries (Sardinops sagax caeruleus, Opisthonema libértate, O. medirastre, O. bulleri, Scomber japonicus, Etrumeus teres, Cetengraulis mysticetus and Engraulis mordax) represent more than 35% of the total annual landed. To avoid that the fisheries enter a state of overexploitation, controls are required based on biological and economic criteria. In this work, the status of the commercial fishery for southern sardine (Sardinops sagax caeruleus) of the Gulf of California is evaluated using a bioeconomic model for the fishing season 1971, 1972 to 2008, 2009. Data were available from 17 sardine boats purse seiners from the Sonora commercial fleet and their average economic performance was estimated in terms of their hold capacity. |
