| Resumo: | This article aims to address the main changes and transformations of LGBTI activism at the subnational level in Mexico that were effective in persuading decision makers and achieving the institutionalization of the rights of sexual minorities in adverse contexts, where there is a strong presence of sectors conservatives of the Catholic Church and political parties who openly implemented actions in order to oppose its recognition. Starting from a case analysis with an emphasis on tracking processes, it is argued that the recognition and institutionalization of the main LGBTI demands were achieved, among other things, by qualitative, symbolic and discourse changes that occurred within the activism. Particularly in populations such as the trans, which historically was an invisible stratum and with a marginal position in activism. |
