| Sumario: | In this work, the criterion of necessity and the characteristics of the first diplomatic edition of the original manuscripts of Santiago Avendaño, captive of the ranqueles between 1842 and 1849, from seven to fourteen years, from certain circumstances that conditioned its circulation, are developed: the course of the original manuscript, the censorship of a mutilated first edition, the modernization in a first rescue of the material hidden in the archive of Estanislao Zeballos. The current edition, in three volumes, was carried out within the procedures of a diplomatic edition. In addition, this work conveys the importance of this manuscript in the documentation and study of the question of the internal border with the aborigines on Argentine territory during the nineteenth century and, consequently, the need for an edition that respects the original in all its aspects and favors its restitution as a documentary source. |
