| Sumario: | The Macolla’s area is located at SW homonym lighthouse in the NW Paraguana’s coast Falcón State.Venezuela. The aim of this work is to deal whith a possible explanation above geomorphological evolution from the available indicators in the field such as marine terrace, mangrove, barrier island. Apart from to characterize the distinctive sedimentary environments It’s belong to ancient embayment surrounded by fossiliferos limestone marine’s terrace scarp. From this scarp there is a view over the whole area, which is divided in this study in 9.6 ha of mud flat and 3.5 ha of barrier island. The silty fraction prevailed in the mud flat sediments is interpreted as evidence of more humid conditions than the present, this allowed limestone weathering, running water and the consequent sediment transport to the lowest land where the halophytic vegetation grew up. The embayment evolution towards mud flat is related to the marine fluctuations and the sealed of barrier island by sedimentary transport. |
