Descrição
Resumo:Research and interventions aimed at preventing gender violence and promoting equality, have seen, actions and measures that are designed to predominantly target women. However, gender issues should be addressed in a relational mode. If you only work with one of the involved parties, usually women, we are leaving out the main actor in the conflict: the man. Therefore, in this article, we intend to develop the most relevant aspects that constitute hegemonic masculinities and the “new masculinities”, both from a theoretical and empirical approach, from key authors and interviews with men in 2015. The goal is to involve not only women but also men in process of understanding their roles in the prevention of gender violence, and to involve them in the socialization of new generations with democratic values of power that practice egalitarian gender relations.
